Power Upgrade and Lifetime Extension of
Unit 1 (100 MW) and Unit 2 (210 MW) in TPP Kostolac A, Serbia

Striving to ensure security of supply as well as improve quality of service offered, Electric Power Industry of Serbia plans to improve production from existing power generation capacities, as well as to extend a lifetime of the oldest production units. In that respect, installed capacity of Units A2 in TPP Kostolac A is planned to be upgraded from 210 MW to 225 MW, while the lifetime of both units is to be extended for additional 100.000 h each. The project also foresees implementation of flue gas desulphurization systems, based on the wet limestone/gypsum technology, primary measures for NOx emission reduction and reconstruction of electrostatic precipitator and implementation of hybrid filtering solution, aimed at dust emission reduction. The indicated gas treatment systems will enable operation of the considered units of TPP Kostolac A to be in line with national and European regulations.

EIA Study has analyzed all positive and negative environmental impacts expected during both construction and operation phase, and has defined technical and organizational measures to be conducted in order to prevent or reduce negative impact on the environment and human health.
