11 Rehabilitation of Unit B1 and construction of FGD plant for Units B1 and B2 in TPP Kostolac B

Construction of Flue Gas Desulphurization plant for Units B1 and B2 in Thermal Power Plant Kostolac B (2x348.5 MW), Serbia

The first Flue Gas Desulphurization Plant in Serbia, erected in TPP Kostolac B, enabled two power generation units, 348.5 MW each, to operate in line with environmental protection requirements. Units are equipped with wet flue gas desulphurization system, using limestone slurry as a scrubbing agent and generating gypsum as a by-product of desulphurization process. The FGD plant was erected under the technical supervision of Energoprojekt ENTEL.

The project was conducted under FIDIC conditions of Contract.

Services provided

  • Review of Detail Design documentation
  • Review of Contract Time Schedule Plan, verification of compliance with contractual provisions, as well as control and monitoring of the work execution
  • Quality control of construction works and technical acceptance in accordance with design documentation
  • Control and monitoring the work execution, implementation of Serbian regulations, standards and technical norms
  • Control of health, safety and fire protection measures during construction
  • Participation in meetings with Contractors (daily, weekly, monthly)
  • Review of Contractor’s demolition/ construction drawings
  • Participation in Taking Over works
  • Participation in testing and commissioning
  • Assessment of variation requests submitted by the Contractor
  • Review of certificates and other supporting documentation
  • Participation in the preparation of Taking Over and acceptance protocols and certificates for facilities, defect clearance and final handing over of works
  • Participation in Performance testing and review of Performance Test reports.
