This project consists of Northern Emirates Reinforcement Works comprising extension of three 400/132kV substations with 500 MVA power transformers, installation of 132kV capacitor banks in two substations and 46km of 400kV double circuit overhead line, and one new 132/11kV substation and related 132kV cable works (11km) in Shakbout City in Abu Dhabi.
Scope of Works under Northern Emirates Reinforcement Works
- 400kV, 132kV, 33kV GIS Bay Extensions and reconfiguration at 400/ 132kV Wasit (WSTG), 400/ 132kV Ras Al Khaimah (FILA), and 132/ 33kV Khor Khwair (KHRK) Grid stations and substation.
- Remote and local end modifications at 400/132kV Qidfa (QDFA), 400/132kV Ras Al Khaimah (FILA), 400/220kV Sweihan and 400/132kV Wasit (WSTG) Grid stations
- 400/132kV, 500 MVA Transformers at 400/ 132kV Wasit (WSTG) and 400/ 132kV Ras Al Khaimah (FILA) Grid stations.
- 132kV, 60 MVAr Shunt Capacitor Banks Works at 400/132kV Wasit (WSTG), 400/132kV Ras Al Khaimah (FILA) Grid stations and 132/33kV Khor Khwair (KHRK) substation.
- 400kV OHL Reconfiguration works at different Locations in 400/132kV Grid stations located in Northern Emirates Region including construction of new 46km of double circuit 400kV OHL.

Under consultancy services EPEs scope is to prepare Preliminary/concept design, specialist measurements, sizing system studies and preparation of specification for 132kV power compensation/filter capacitor banks, geotechnical and topographic survey works (sub-consultant), tendering, EPC contract Award, Design review and site supervision during construction and warranty period. The overall project duration is estimated to be 60 months for Northern Emirates Reinforcement works and 56 months for Shakbout city substation.
