Construction of Flue Gas Desulphurization Plant in TPP Nikola Tesla A, Serbia

Installation of Flue gas desulphurization systems in thermal power plants represents a measure aimed at reduction of harmful flue gases produced and discharged into the atmosphere as a result of coal combustion process. Flue gas desulphurization plant in TPP Nikola Tesla A shall serve the needs of Units 3, 4, 5 and 6 (1x305,3 MW + 3x308,5 MW) and shall be based on utilization of wet scrubbing technology, with limestone used as a scrubbing agent and gypsum produced as a by-product of desulphurization process.

During the initial project stages, necessary activities were performed in order to provide all relevant decision-making information for the Client, including:

  • Preliminary works with an aim to define necessary FGD system parameters
  • Basic Design documentation
  • Feasibility Study
  • Environmental Impact Assessment.

After the contract was awarded to selected EPC contractor (Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS), Energoprojekt Entel was selected to perform technical control and approval of Design for Building Permit, control and approval of Design for execution and as-built design, as well as to conduct construction supervision services.
