OSBL Engineering and Procurement Services for New Desalinated Water Line and 132/13.8 kV Substation in Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar

Gasal is a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum, Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company and Air Liquide which is the world leader in gases for industry, health and the environment.

Gasal extended its production in Ras Laffan City by building a new air separation plant and facilities which were divided in the following areas:

Pipeline works:

  • 1 desalinated water line between existing desalinated water distribution network and GASAL W8 plot in Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLIC), Qatar.
  • 4 x above-ground product lines (2xO2, 1xN2, 1xH2, and 2x optical fiber lines between GASAL SOV10 and GASAL W8 plot in Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar.

HV Power Supply Works

132kV cable works:

  • 1 x 132kV feeder (3 phases) and associated optical fiber between Kahramaa substation KM-RLF1 and GASAL W8 plot in Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar. Connections at the GASAL site shall be up to the GASAL SS.
  • Connection to the IT hub.


  • 132 KV GIS pre-assembled and pre-tested GIS container, as part of GASAL SS with separate 132/13.8kV transformers and all necessary modifications in KM substation KM-RLF1 and KM National Control Center (NCC).

The power supply for new plant is realized by connection to Kahramaa electricity transmission system through new 132/13.8kV substation (GASAL SS) located within Gasal premises on W8 plot. Gasal S/S is be fed by single 132kV cable feeder line connected to existing 132kV switchgear at KAHRAMAA Ras Laffan S/S (RLFKM-1 SS).

New Gasal facility consumers will be supplied from internal 13.8 kV voltage level and below.

  • Civil Works for Pipeline Installations and HV Station tender preparation,
  • Management of all of the above tenders.
  • Detail design (Electrical, SCS/SCADA, Telecom, Civil)
  • Procurement management
