Engineering and Site Supervision of Dubai Shamal (DXBSHMAL) & Shams (SHAMS) 400/132kv Substations, 400kv Series Reactor Station and Associated 400kV OHL Works, Dubai

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) intend to construct a new 400/132kV Substation DBXSHMAL in Al Qusais area. Therefore, a Call has been published for Construction, Supply, Installation, Testing & Commissioning of Canal Gardens (CANLGRDN), Dubai Janoub (DXBJANUB), Dubai Shamal (DXBSHMAL) & Shams (SHAMS) 400/132kV substations and associated modification works.

Technical and Commercial evaluations of received Bids were performed by Energoprojekt ENTEL.

Project Started on 25-02-2018, completion is planned on 24-01-2021 (35 Months)

Services provided

  • Preparation of conceptual design report
  • Preparation of Tender documents/drawings
  • Environmental Impacts Assessment Study
  • Bid Evaluation and tender clarifications
  • Recommendation of the preferred Bidder to the client
  • Design review of the documents/drawings prepared by the Contractors design Vendor approvals and review of vendor drawings.
  • Supervisory services for the construction works of all disciplines, testing and commissioning of equipment, auditing of EPC contractor’s claims etc.
  • Variation Order approvals and Advising DEWEA on all contractual matters.
  • Preparation of Project closure reports.

Technical data

  • New indoor 400kV GIS at the Dubai Shamal (DXBSHMAL) 400/132kV Substation site. This provides 12 Nos. circuit-breaker bays in a double Bus bar configuration, arranged as follows:
    • Four (4) Transformer (ICT) bays each rated at 1250 A
    • Two (2) Bus Coupler bays each rated at 4000 A
    • Two (2)Bus Section bays each rated at 4000 A
    • Four (4) OHL bays each rated at 3150 A
  • New indoor 132kV GIS at the Dubai Shamal (DXBSHMAL) 400/132kV Substation site. This provides 30 Nos. circuit-breaker bays in a double bus bar configuration, arranged as follows:
    • Four (4) Transformer (ICT) bays each rated at 2500 A
    • Two (2) Bus Coupler bays each rated at 3000 A
    • Two (2) Bus Section bays each rated at 3000 A
    • Eighteen (18) Cable Feeder bays each rated at 1500 A
    • Four (4) Bus Reactor bays each rated at 1500A
  • Four (4) ICT 400/132kV, 500MVA transformers supplied and installed to interconnect the 400 kV and 132 kV Substations.
  • Four (4) 132kV 40MVAr Bus connected Shunt Reactors supplied and installed to reduce voltage transients.
