Over nineteen years, the Water, Energy, Technology and Environmental Protection Exhibition - WETEX in Dubai, has established itself as the prestigious specialized Middle East region’s exhibition in vital industries. A three-day event was organized from 23-25 October at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC), in conjunction with the 2nd Dubai Solar Show and the 4th World Green Economy Summit (WGES), under the umbrella of this year’s Green Week.

WETEX events took place under the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and President of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). Steadily increasing the number of visitors, this year’s WETEX attracted 2000 exhibitors and more than 24.500 visitors from 50 countries around the world. Due to the enhanced public interest and large participation in these events, WETEX 2017 exhibitors showcased their products and services across the impressive 63.750 m2 exhibition area, which clearly reflects the importance of this specialized gathering. WETEX was supported by 67 sponsors, including the most reputable companies in the fields of energy, water treatment technology and environmental protection.

At this year’s WETEX special attention was paid to the promotion of young people and improving their abilities to actively contribute towards achieving sustainable development and green economy goals. Under the theme “Driving Innovation, Leading Change”, the event organizers provided an opportunity to universities from around the world to showcase, in a dedicated Innovation hall, the latest solutions that contribute to environmental protection and sustainable development concept. Furthermore, Dubai has confirmed its commitment to increase reliance on solar energy, by inviting companies and private individuals this year to join the campaign to install photovoltaic (PV) solar panels on the rooftops of their buildings as to reduce the harmful greenhouse gas emissions. DEWA pointed out that 453 individual solar systems, installed on the rooftops of residential and commercial buildings in Dubai, have been connected to the national power transmission grid, with a total capacity of about 18,7 MW. DEWA’s rooftop solar initiative Shams Dubai aims to have all buildings in the city fitted with solar panels on their rooftops by 2030.

As a long-term and reliable partner to the largest investors in the Middle East region, ENTEL has supported 2017 WETEX exhibition as a Platinum Sponsor of the event, this time at the explicit request of DEWA company, its major Client in the Unted Arab Emirates. The ENTEL’s role of a reliable partner has been recognized by the organizers and honored by a special recognition plaque, expressing a gratitude to the sponsors for their valuable and continuous support that opens the door for further expanding the already established successful cooperation, aimed at implementing innovative and energy efficient technologies that will ensure safe, more sustainable and better future for the entire Middle East region.
